Ayyanar Falls

In the district of Virudhunagar, close to the city of Rajapalayam, one can go to Ayyanar falls which is a natural water falls. The entire water fall is in a dense forest and the water falls from a height of 15 feet. The waterfalls is situated in the eastern slopes of western ghats.The falls have shifted its origin of fall from the real original source and to reach there one should get permission from the forest department. Up to the half mark of the route one can trek, beyond that it is quite a difficult climb to reach there. It takes nearly 3 hours to climb up the dense emrald green forest to reach Ayyanar falls. It is advised to come down before 4.pm as after dark there are chances of sighting elephants and Indian Gaurs.
